Advanced Thread Lift (performed by Dr Jadoon at Medisculpt)

Welcome To Medaesthetics

Welcome to Medaesthetics, Perth’s Award-winning, Boutique Cosmetic Clinics since 2013.

At Medaesthetics, we offer the entire spectrum of cosmetic and anti-ageing treatments including cosmetic injectables, dermatological lasers, skin tightening, fat reduction, and cellulite treatments.

As we age, the effects of sun damage and gravity on our skin become more noticeable. In the face, collagen production slows down and facial fat pads start to disappear. This results in facial sagging and fine lines and wrinkles. Thread lift has become a popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure in recent years. It gently lifts sagging facial contours and supports facial retaining ligaments to maintain youthful facial contours.

The procedure is performed using delicate absorbable sutures (with tiny barbs or cones attached) inserted under the skin in a strategic manner using fine needles or cannulas.

“At Medaesthetics, we have been performing various types of Thread Lift procedures in Perth since 2010 and are one of the most experienced clinics in Thread Lift in WA”.

What Are PDO Threads?

PDO (Polydioxanone) threads are a popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment for skin tightening, lifting, and rejuvenation. PDO threads are made of a biocompatible material that is commonly used in medical sutures. These threads are inserted under the skin and help to stimulate collagen production, resulting in firmer and tighter skin.

PDO threads come in different types and sizes, depending on the specific treatment area and desired results. They can be inserted using a needle or a cannula, depending on the technique used by the practitioner. PDO threads can be used to target various areas of the face, such as the cheeks, jawline, brows, and neck, as well as other parts of the body.

The treatment typically takes about 30-60 minutes, depending on the area being treated, and can be performed under local anesthesia. After the treatment, there may be some mild swelling, redness, or bruising, but these symptoms typically resolve within a few days.

The results of PDO thread treatment are typically visible immediately after the treatment, but continue to improve over the following weeks as collagen production increases. The effects can last anywhere from 6-18 months, depending on the type of thread used and the individual’s skin condition.

PDO thread treatment is a safe and effective alternative to traditional surgical procedures for those who wish to achieve a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. It is important to choose a qualified and experienced practitioner who can provide personalised treatment and ensure the best possible results.

General Information

PDO Thread Results:

The results of PDO (Polydioxanone) thread treatment can vary from person to person, but generally, patients will see some improvement immediately after the procedure. However, the full effects of the treatment may take several weeks to become fully visible as the collagen production process is activated.

After the threads are inserted, they stimulate the body’s natural healing process, leading to increased collagen production and improved skin elasticity. The newly produced collagen can take several weeks to form and strengthen, resulting in gradual improvements to the treated area.

Typically, patients will notice the most significant results after about 2-3 months as the collagen production reaches its peak. However, the duration and intensity of the results can vary depending on several factors, such as the patient’s age, skin condition, lifestyle, and the number of threads used.

In general, PDO thread treatment can produce results that last between 6-18 months, depending on the type of thread used and the individual’s skin condition. It is essential to follow post-treatment instructions and attend follow-up appointments to maximize the treatment’s benefits and ensure long-lasting results.

Areas Improved by PDO Threads:

PDO (Polydioxanone) thread treatment can be used to improve various areas of the face and body, including:
Jawline and jowls: PDO threads can be used to lift and tighten the skin along the jawline and reduce the appearance of sagging jowls.

Cheeks: PDO threads can be used to add volume and lift to the cheeks, reducing the appearance of sagging and creating a more youthful, contoured appearance.

Neck: PDO threads can be used to tighten the skin on the neck and reduce the appearance of sagging and wrinkles.

Eyebrows: PDO threads can be used to lift and tighten the skin around the eyebrows, creating a more youthful and awake appearance.

Nasolabial folds: PDO threads can be used to reduce the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth.

Forehead and temples: PDO threads can be used to lift and tighten the skin on the forehead and temples, reducing the appearance of sagging and wrinkles.

Body: PDO threads can be used to tighten and lift sagging skin on the body.

PDO thread treatment is a versatile and effective non-surgical cosmetic procedure that can be customized to address the unique concerns of each patient. It is important to consult with a qualified practitioner to determine the best treatment plan for achieving the desired results.

Treatment Limitations:

While PDO (Polydioxanone) thread treatment can be an effective non-surgical option for improving the appearance of sagging skin, it is not suitable for everyone, and there are some limitations to consider. Some of the limitations of PDO thread treatment include:

  1. Severity of sagging: PDO thread treatment is most effective for mild to moderate sagging of the skin. In cases of severe sagging, surgical procedures such as a facelift may be necessary to achieve the desired results.
  2. Skin thickness: PDO threads are most effective in thinner skin types. Thicker skin types may not respond as well to the treatment, as the threads may not be able to lift and tighten the skin effectively.
  3. Number of threads: PDO thread treatment typically involves the placement of several threads to achieve the desired results. However, there is a limit to the number of threads that can be used, and over-treatment can potentially lead to complications such as skin puckering or migration of the threads.
  4. Duration of results: While PDO thread treatment can produce long-lasting results, the duration of the effects can vary depending on several factors such as the individual’s age, skin condition, and lifestyle. Patients may require periodic touch-up treatments to maintain the results.
  5. Not suitable for certain medical conditions: PDO thread treatment may not be suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions such as autoimmune disorders or bleeding disorders, as it can potentially increase the risk of complications.

It is important to discuss the limitations and potential risks of PDO thread treatment with a qualified practitioner before undergoing the procedure. They will be able to assess whether the treatment is suitable for your specific needs and help you determine the best course of action for achieving your desired results.

The Pain Factor:

With each treatment, special attention is paid to minimise any treatment discomfort.

This is achieved by applying specially formulated, ultra-high strength numbing creams, and cool air, along with using Inhalation Anaesthesia Gas (Laughing Gas).

“After more than a decade of doing Thread Lifts, our experience has shown us that not every patient who requests Thread Lift is a suitable candidate. Careful patient selection is the key to a clinically successful outcome.

FAQs

What is a Thread Lift?

A thread lift is a popular cosmetic procedure that gently lifts sagging facial contours and improves skin’s tone and texture without surgery.

The procedure is performed using delicate absorbable sutures (with tiny barbs or cones attached) inserted under the skin in a strategic manner using fine needles of cannulas.

Key facial areas improved by Thread Lift:

Deep collagen production and skin rejuvenation (PDO)
Generalized facial sagging (MINT, Silhouette Soft, Promoitalia)
Nasolabial folds (PDO & MINT)
Lower face sagging (MINT & Silhouette Soft)
Jawline sharpening (PDO, MINT and Silhouette Soft)

Who can benefit from the Thread Lift procedure?

Anyone experiencing mild to moderate facial sagging or sun-damaged skin can benefit from a Thread Lift. Skin vitalization threads such as PDO Threads can be used at any age as they help stimulate deep collagen production resulting in noticeably younger-looking skin.

What are various types of Absorbable Threads?

There are two main types:
Lifting threads
Revitalizing threads
As the name suggests, the lifting threads are used to lift the sagging facial tissue. The Revitalizing threads are primarily used for collagen stimulation to rejuvenate ageing skin.

How is the procedure performed? Is it painful?

Thread Lifting is performed under local anaesthesia as a walk-in walk-out procedure in less than sixty minutes. Most patients tolerate the procedure well and are often pleasantly surprised by how quick and easy it is to have it done.

Threads are inserted deep under the skin using fine needles (or cannulas) and there is no cutting or stitching involved. Threads are not visible on the skin surface.

How long do the results last for?

Most patients report longevity of up to two years. Due to the absorbable nature of threads, more threads can be inserted at any time to maintain the results long term.

Is it possible to have other cosmetic procedures with Thread Lift?

At Medaesthetics, we routinely combine Threads with dermal fillers, fat transfer and skin resurfacing procedures as part of our non-surgical facial make-overs.

How long will the results last?

This depends upon the type of thread. Most patients report the longevity of two years or more. Due to the absorbable nature of threads, more threads can be inserted at any time to maintain the results over a longer period of time.

What are the potential risks and complications?

Temporary skin puckering, swelling, redness and bruising may happen after a Thread Lift. Rarely, there may be an allergic reaction to the threads.

Over the years, Dr Jadoon has seen almost every possible adverse reaction to Thread Lift and is highly experienced to manage all potential complication. We regularly fix thread lift complications of patients of other clinics.

Who is not suitable for this procedure?

Unsuitable candidates for thread-lift include:
Patients who do not have realistic expectations.
Those with any medical contraindications or any undiagnosed skin condition.

What is the recovery like?

Most patients are pleasantly surprised at how little discomfort they experience during the initial healing phase. Oral pain killers are only needed for the first twenty hours in most cases.

Mild swelling and bruising can be seen in people who are prone to bruising. Full healing can take up to ten days.

Light activity and light exercise can be recommenced seventy-two hours after the Thread lift if there are no issues with healing.

What are alternative treatments to a Thread Lift?

Possible alternatives to Thread lift include:

Liquid Face Lift with Dermal Fillers
Mini Facelift
Facial Fat Grafting
